Hi - We made our first foray out on the INT today, a section near Beit Shemesh where we live. I used http://israelhiking.osm.org.il/#/15/31.6907/34.9562 and indeed found INT trail markers there, which looked freshly painted, but at a certain point we lost the trail. After getting home, I looked at several sites with maps, e.g. https://www.google.co.il/maps/@31.6978117,34.9548872,16z?hl=en, and they all show the INT taking a very different route than the one we took. For instance, the first one shows the INT going south of Khirbet Qeiyafa and Netiv Halamed Hei, and Google shows the INT north of those.

So I'm wondering if maybe the first map was wrong, or maybe an old route. If so, why the fresh-looking paint? Thanks in advance for the help!

I see where you posted the changes. Thanks.

Meanwhile, I went back to where I lost the trail, from the opposite direction. Turns out the trail marker I saw the first time was pointing in the wrong direction, and there was another turn that had no marker and wasn't intuitive at all. I only figured it out using GPS + the israelhiking.osm site.

Should I be in touch with the Israel Trails Committee about issues like this?

This is a change from August 2015. Before you hit the trail check the updates on this forum.
If you are updated before leaving home, chances for confusion are low. The most updated maps are always on this fourm.

Thanks - I agree, avoiding confusion is a good thing!

I'm fairly sure that the trail marker I'm talking about (a sign attached to a stake) is flipped the wrong way, which is indeed confusing. Just trying to pass along info to make it easier for other hikers.
