I'm looking to hike the Israel Trail in the Negev February 10 and 11. I'm travelling alone. Is it safe to hike the trail alone? Where would be a good place to lodge with access to the trail? Mitzpeh Ramon? Sde Boker? Anywhere else?

I'd really appreciate any advice anyone might have.

Thanks!

1. Yep, It's quite safe - that is, you'll be safe from man-made disasters. Be careful with the weather, and check in advance for rain and flood. Take a phone and leave your hiking plan with someone, in case of emergency. I hope it's not the first time you're hiking alone.
2. I'd recommend Mitzpe Ramon, as the trail passes straight over there. From Sde Boker you'll have to walk several kilometers to reach the Trail at Ein Ovdat (Ovdat spring, not to be confused with the Ovdat National park).

Mitzpe Ramon is definitely better and personal safety is not an issue. I doubt if you are really alone there.
It is a popular destination for day hikers at this time of the year.

The choice of lodging in Mizpe Ramon is from a 5 star hotel to B&B, hostel or trail angels.

Many thanks to Yagil and Yankele. You have been very helpful and reassuring. Yes, I have hiked alone before. In fact, while I'm a sociable guy, I prefer the solitude when I hike. Mitzpeh Ramon here I come!!!
